In 1988, Ruby-Spears Productions (known for shows like Fangface, Thundarr the Barbarian and Rubik the Amazing Cube) released a Superman cartoon series that aired Saturday mornings on CBS. The series featured a segment at the end of every episode called the Superman Family Album which achieved critical acclaim. The role of Superman, and his alter ego Clark Kent, was expertly done by voiceover artist Beau Weaver.
This is one series that often gets overlooked by Superman documentaries, and for no good reason. The series is smart, fun and really captures the spirit of the characters. I was quite glad when the series was finally released on DVD in 2009.
