Contributing to the hype of the 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Empire magazine‘s September 2015 issue featured split cover design of Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman. When you turned the page, you could see an equally large page of the duo as their alter-egos Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent. The magazine dedicated fourteen pages to the movie.
One of the pages dealt with something called “The Cape War” where the writers pitted previous portrayals of the characters against each other. Their reasonings get downright bizarre, like Christopher Reeve winning over Michael Keaton because the movies made more money than Keaton’s, but I guess it’s all in fun. Bud Collyer (Superman from the 1940s radio series and 1966 cartoon) gets a prominent mention, but is mistakenly illustrated with a photo of George Reeves.
