This is an unopened packet of Superman: The Movie trading cards. Produced by Topps in 1978, the entire set of series one cards totaled seventy-seven and also came with great silver “foil” stickers. On the backs of some of the cards were sections of larger images that, when placed together, created a larger image from the film. The packet contains ten trading cards, one sticker, and still contains the stick of bubble gum.
Oh what memories I have of collecting the cards from this movie! The waxed wrapper, showing a stylized version of Christopher Reeve’s photo as Superman, really popped against the black background. This was the first time that I realized that there were other scenes from the film that were not included in the final cut. One example was card number seventeen featuring the Kryptonian Military Police Officer.
