This is a large format 64-page graphic novel called Superman: Peace on Earth. Published in 1999 by DC Comics, the story was written by Paul Dini and Alex Ross and was a breath of fresh air at the time. It tackles the tough issue of Superman deciding to use his powers to help defeat world hunger and poverty but ends up learning a lesson at the end.
This book was masterfully illustrated by renowned artist Alex Ross whose life-like, panoramic style truly makes this story come to life. In a fitting stroke of compassion, the proceeds from the sale of the original artwork from this book went to charity.
I was very honored to have met Alex Ross in 1999.
Paul Dini and Alex Ross are a dream team indeed! haven’t actually read this one, I shall look out for it. 🙂

This was a beautiful graphic novel. Over on twitter, Ross recently posted what I believe is a new one-off piece that may interest you, if you have not already seen it, featuring both George Reeves and Christopher Reeve: https://twitter.com/thealexrossart/status/901874424256892933

Yes! I know exactly which piece you mean. It’s a perfect example of what if these two incarnations of Superman met. Absolutely brilliant!

Considering all the multiverse crisis stories DC has rolled out over the years, there’s one that I would love to read. If only!
