This is a copy of Justice League of America number 102 from 1972. It is yet another example of how the late and great artist Nick Cardy could make a cover so dynamic.
The title of the story is “And One of Us Must Die!” and it features a cavalcade of many, many DC Comics heroes including Superman, Batman, Diana Prince, Wonder Woman (Earth Two), The Flash, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Aquaman, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Red Tornado, Johnny Thunder, Hawkman, Sandman, The Vigilante, Wildcat, The Star-Spangled Kid, Speedy, Zatanna, Elongated Man, Hourman, Dr. Fate, and many more! The story deals with an entity named Oracle who ponders the fate of a world while members of the Justice League of America and the Justice Society of America battle to save an Earth from the clutch of the Nebuloid Hand. In the process, one hero dies as one did before. Confused? I encourage you to find a copy to read.
This issue is extra special because, as it mentions at the top of the first page, it “concludes the 100th anniversary adventure of the Justice League of America!”
The story was written by Len Wein, and illustrated by Dick Dillin, Joe Giellla, and Dick Giordano.
A great issue to conclude the JLA’s 100th’s anniversary adventure, and I agree, Nick Cardy always did such fantastic covers as well 🙂

I absolutely love that cover. I’ll need to be on the lookout for this one, as it sounds like an intriguing story, too.

This issue is the conclusion of a very large story (for its time) with so many characters. I am quite the fan of Nick Cardy’s work and this is another cover of his that is simply awe inspiring to me.
