Here is an unopened bag of Superman Pretzels from 1986. Amazingly, many of the pretzels sound like they remain intact and the bag hasn’t been crushed in almost 35 years of existence.
The package art of Superman was illustrated by none other than Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez while the artist for the actual package placed an ‘S’-shaped pretzel in Superman’s fist.
I remember these on store shelves back then. It was a time when Warner Bros. and DC seemed to license Superman out to more companies to make products than they do today. Many of the products today seem to circle around the ensemble cast of the Justice League (or Batman) than solely Superman. As a fan, I hope that, one day, we will see a Superman marketing resurgence that will bring Superman back to the forefront.
