This is the 1985 clamshell version of the Superman: The Movie VHS. This was the version seen in many video rental stores at the time. There is a sentence in the synopsis on the back that reads:
“Directed by Richard Donner (Lethal Weapon, The Goonies), Superman: The Movie makes you believe in the legend all over again.”

This is the VHS release of the movie that was sold in 1987 by Warner Home Video, the same year as my copy of the home video release of Superman III and the theatrical release of Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.
This is a copy of a Superman: The Movie VHS tape released in 1986 by Warner Home Video.
